So our Mayor has decided that charging his constituents $1 per bag used for garbage was not a good idea and scrapped the idea... He stated that it probably was not going to be instituted/implemented in time. This amounted to what was on average about $5week to throw out one's garbage per family. But now... he wants to increase the state sales tax by 1% and/or property tax by 17% to address the billion dollar deficit. So I have a couple questions... How did we come to have a billion dollar deficit? and since I am paying taxes for services such as garbage removal, why does double charging us for a service we already pay for to throw out the garbage seem like a good idea? My husband stated that if that charge passed, we might have to consider using the garbage dumps at our son's school or the trash cans on the main street... Does he think that he will be able to keep PA residents in PA?
Thank goodness he came to his senses about the garbage but...
I guess "leaving PA" here we come...
